Graveside memorial services for Jerry Erickson, age 79, of Paton, will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Paton Township Cemetery, Paton, with Pastor Jim Barnett officiating.
Honorary bearers are Sarah Erickson, Jacob Kruse, Levi Kruse, Nick Erickson, Scott Erickson, John Erickson, Kristine Menz, and Tom Erickson. A luncheon and time of visitation, hosted by the family, will follow at the Shriver Community Building, Paton.
Jerry Lee Erickson, son of Charles and Rita (Davis) Erickson, was born March 12, 1944. He grew up in Paton on a farm just north of town. He attended and graduated from Paton High School in 1962, where he met Irene Jean Fox.

Jerry and Irene were married Sept. 16, 1966, in Grand Junction. Jerry also began working at Electrolux in Jefferson at an early age and worked there until he retired in 2011. Jerry and Irene made their home in Dana, where they raised their two children, Donnie and Rhonda, and spent nearly 37 years of marriage together before Irene’s passing in 2003.
Jerry then left Dana and moved back to the family farm in Paton, where he enjoyed many hobbies in his retirement. He farmed for many years with his brother George. He spoiled the grandkids with anything from swing sets to four-wheelers and even horses. Jerry loved to ride motorcycles and owned many over the years. As his family likes to say, what Jerry seemed to enjoy most of all was “wheeling and dealing” and shooting the breeze. Everyone who knew Jerry knows he was a natural-born talker with a story for just about everything. He could find someone to talk to anywhere he went, whether he knew them or not. He was a very memorable soul; jovial, occasionally ornery, and one who will be remembered and missed by many.
Jerry passed on Sept. 25, 2023. Survivors include his son Donald (Ann) Erickson of Paton; daughter Rhonda (Tim) Kruse of Ogden; grandchildren Sarah, Jacob, and Levi; brother George (Pegi) Erickson of Paton; friend Judy Wilson of Paton; other relatives and friends.
